Horse Ballet
A New Series of Painting
by Karen Brenner
Elegant and dynamic. Graceful and athletic.
Do you ever think of ballet dancers when watching horses? They have so much in common. This new series I hope to capture the graceful movements of elegant horses in my work.
When working on this painting the mare just seems so fluid and smooth. She reminded me of a calm, confident ballerina. I could not stop thinking about how much horses reminded me of dancers. That's when I came up with the idea of doing a whole series on Horse Ballet. I have two more paintings in the beginning stages to work on in the upcoming months - and hope to do many more!
Horse Ballet Beginner is actually the second painting in my horse ballet series. The first (before I dreamed up the idea for a series) was Syb Ygrek - a Friesian gelding that is from South Carolina. I loved watching Syb's exorbant movements. And I do love the painting, Friesian Ballet, pictured below.
What music can you imagine playing in the background?
