First Painting in Beautiful Horses of Colorado Unveiled….

Everyone knows Colorado is beautiful. It is filled with beautiful horses! For my 10th “Beautiful Horses…” state, I was privileged  to visit over 20 Colorado farms and ranches to photograph amazing horses. Akhal-Teke stallion, Aliger, is featured in the first painting in the Beautiful Horses of Colorado series.

Akhal-Tekes are a very rare breed originating in Turkmenistan. One of the most ancient breeds of horses, Akhal-Tekes are known for their unique, lean, greyhound shaped bodies and for their amazingly shiny coats….Aliger’s was gleaming coat was unbelieveable!

Aliger, who was born in Russia, has also has hooded eyes which are uniquely characteristic of the breed. Learn more about the breed at this link: Akhal-Tekes. Here are some of my photos of Aliger.
