Anton Glow

Anton Glow, 23 3/8 x 27 3/4", oil on masonite,
Anton was a legacy in the Friesian world and it was such an honor to get to visit him at his home and photograph him for the Beautiful Horses of Wisconsin years ago.
Recently, looking through my reference photos I came across Anton's pictures. He was so regal! His beauty inspired another painting - Anton Glow!
Here are my memories from our visit.
When we visited his home farm on a steamy hot summer day, Anton's long mane was being unbraided. We were amazed as it flowed to the ground, waving as Anton proudly held his head high. We all walked over to his grassy hillside pasture, Anton was released, and took off at a full gallop, his mane streaming behind. Oh, so beautiful! What joy!
Within three minutes of continually snapping shots, I knew I had hundreds of photos from which to choose to create a painting of Anton. This pose might seem like a strange one for his painting, but it instantly reminds me of Anton putting on a freestyle show just for us.
I wanted to include a quote from Anton's website:
"What makes ANTON such an appealing sire; could it be the near flawless linear score that he possesses; could it be the wonderful temperament of his offspring; the spectacular movement that is the cornerstone of his reputation or is it the hair? Yes, the hair; Anton’s legendary hair that is every Friesian owner’s fantasy, the hair that has become his trademark. It really doesn’t matter which of these many reasons that people breed to Anton, he possess incredible qualities that, as exemplified by his talented offspring, are qualities he continues to pass on."

New Pairings: My Latest Instagram Project
Posted March 30, 2019
Wine + food pairings have been around since the first fermenation.
Cheese + fruit pairings are a thing.
Beer + Girl Scout Cookies pairings are a new thing.
The list of pairings has a new entry!
My newest adventure is pairing up my horse paintings with virtual homes - on Instagram!
In the morning I post one of my paintings and in the evening I post a #perfectmatch - carefully selected from the creative interiors showcased on the social media platform.

It's really fun - for me - looking through the plentiful photos of rooms posted on Instagram and imagining how my painting might look on the wall. I'm actually sort of addicted.
Here's a screenshot from my Instagram:
Horse Paintings + Virtual Homes pairings.
With the "three in a row" format of diplaying photos on Instagram, the paintings are sometimes beside the matching interior, and sometimes not. For the past week, I've added to the complexity of the game by trying to make the whole thing flow. First a painting - followed by a perfect room - the next day a painting that would also look good in that posted room, etc.
It's a puzzle - that's evolving.
Currently, I'm posting paintings and virtual homes on Monday through Friday. Saturdays the painting/interior pair that received the most "Likes" are Photoshopped together and posted.
If you see a room on Instagram you'd like to challenge me to find the #perfectmatch from my portfolio of paintings, just tag me and I'll see what I can come up with!

Yes, I'm still in love with those famous white horses of the Camargue! Having over 4,000 photos from my trip to southern France, I think I'll be painting Camargue horses for the next 10 years - and loving every minute of it!
The first painting was actually completed at the end of December:
And the here is my first competed painting for 2019:
